Introduction

My name is Elizabeth Evans, but most of my peers call me Liz. I've lived in Kansas my entire life, and I lived in Wichita for 18 years of it. For years, I've complained about the red politics and bigotry in this state, as well as the lack of exciting places and activities to occupy time, the bipolar weather, and the less-than-attractive scenery. However, as I've grown older, I've grown to appreciate this state and have regarded it as my home. Most of the people I love are here, and in retrospect, I wouldn't have wanted to grow up anywhere else.

While I still consider Wichita my home and still live there in the summers and winters, I currently live in Topeka and attend Washburn University. At Washburn, I am majoring in English with an emphasis in writing, and I am minoring in political science. My anticipated graduation month is May of 2014. I am currently the President of Ichtus at Washburn, which is a United Methodist Campus Ministry, and I am involved in the To Write Love On Her Arms university chapter here. In addition, I attend bi-weekly poetry workshops, and I intern 20 hours a week in the House Minority Leadership office at the Kansas State Capitol.

I've been blogging on a site called Tumblr for nearly three years, but I thought it was time to create a more professional blog on which I can gain more experience writing about the parts of life that I value. I've recently realized that I am starting to get too old to continue posting and writing about my feelings constantly, and I wanted a forum more appropriate for the change I am trying to make. I intend to discuss my interests, my views, and my beliefs here. This will include, but will not be limited to, writing, politics, faith, feminism, and just general thoughts about the world. I often tackle these issues on several of my social-networking sites, including Facebook, Tumblr, and Twitter. However, I figured this would be a more appropriate setting for such endeavors.

I realize this may be a vague way to introduce my blog, but I think that anyone who wants to know more will follow and read my entries. Thanks for reading!
